Introduction

Paediatricians have a number of responsibilities within child protection cases from gathering the evidence base for signs observed in assessment to presenting the medical perspective within multi-agency meetings, and as a professional witness in family, criminal or civil proceedings.

This two-day course (Day 1 in London and Day 2 online via Zoom), with mandatory activities to be completed before and during the course, provides paediatricians with the skills required to fulfil these duties.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:
• Deal with common child protection concerns that arise in your clinical practice
• Present the medical perspective of a child protection assessment within multi-agency meetings
• Appear as a professional witness (having written a report to the court’s required specifications) with the skills and confidence required to provide the best possible outcomes for the child
